Mud+ More Mud+ Rain, (and lots of it)= an Amazing Texas Wedding

This weekend was probably the biggest challenge I have faced yet, in my wedding planing career.

It all started a little over a year ago, when our bride Heather and I started planning her wedding on her parents property in Helotes. We spent a number of days walking her property to find the perfect spots for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We decided on the ceremony behind her parents house, over looking the river and the two waterfalls her father had built in the natural rock wall, across the river. The cocktail reception was going to be about an acre away in the vineyard where her parents grew grapes to bottle for their own wine label “Lee Creek Vineyards”, and the reception and dinner would be on the front lawn under oak tress. lit with strands of light from tree to tree.

Then this past Wednesday it became clear that no matter how much we prayed it wasn’t going to rain, it was. It started out mid week just fine, We knew there was a high probability of rain before the week was over, well okay about 100% chance, so we order the tent, and had it delivered Thursday morning.

Leveling the ground

So tent was set up Thursday and I was feeling pretty good about things until the mid afternoon Friday when the rain started, and then kept coming and never stopped. By 7pm we had a tent that was leaking water, no generator yet for light, and a hill that was creating a landslide of rushing water and mud headed right towards the tent

We were without light for a bit, waiting and waiting on the generator…..

The generator arrived in the dark and in the rain at 9:00pm
The generator finally showed up about 9pm in the pouring rain and dark…..

We spent a good part of the night in the rain, drenched to the bone and up to our knees in mud, with a bobcat (BIG thanks to my two buddies that saved my night with a lot of hard work, a bob cat, and two shovels) digging trenches to divert the water away from the tent. Pictures aren’t great, but here we are in the pouring rain at midnight.

Here is the small trench we dug to keep the water away from the beautiful wood dance floor provided by DPC Media.

We returned first thing Saturday morning to meet the tent company that had came to patch the wholes, and it was still a muddy mess. The morning was a crazy one, we brought in plywood to cover the trenches and sod to cover the plywood, and worked fast to get the linens, and flowers and all the other “wedding preps” done in time for the 5:00 ceremony.

With all the craziness behind us, it was 5:00pm and we had a dry tent, and dry dance floor, a phenomenal band, and we were ready to see Heather and Jordan tie the knot. It truly turned out amazing. (However, I didn’t have a chance to take pictures….)
Here is a sneak peak of how the day turned out. You will have wait for the rest of the pictures form the amazing girls at Bend The Light.

A busy wedding season for San Antonio Wedding Planners.

San Antonio Wedding and Event Consultants

It’s been a while since we have actually had enough free time to blog. Wedding season kept San Antonio Wedding and Event Consultants super busy with multiple weddings most weekends. We were truly blessed to be a part of so many beautiful bride’s weddings this season, and cherish the memories from each. We feel like we are finally slowing down a bit, and that’s because we only have one wedding each weekend in July. Last night we had Sonya’s wedding at Kendall Plantation, and we will be back out at Kendall Plantation next weekend, for Lacy’s wedding. So still keeping busy every weekend, but feeling like we have a chance to breath. And BLOG!

Before we go back and blog them individually, we thought we would share some highlights of a few of our favorite weddings from the past few months.

Here is a fantastic photo of our couple, Bailey and Andy, before their ceremony at Kendall Plantation, Boerne Texas.

Over the past few months of busy wedding season, we have been a part of planning some amazing weddings at The Whitte, Lost Mission, The McNay, Kendall Plantation, ZaZa Gardens, Spanish Governor’s Palace, Tapatio Springs, and more.  We look forward to sharing more photos of the weddings at these fabulous San Antonio wedding venues. xoxo-Teresa

Playing around on Pinterest, I ran across the wedding that Senior Consultant, Melody Agee, with San Antonio Wedding and Event Consultants coordinated. It was recently featured on Style Me Pretty. Photography by

Turquoise….I’m obsessed.

So, as I know every bride can relate to…I have gotten a color/idea in my head, and every where I go, I’m obsessed with finding something that relates. Hours on Pinterest, pinning ALL night…Right now, my obsession. TURQUOISE.

What’s not to love? It’s bright, fresh, and so versatile. You can pair it with almost any color. Red, pink, orange….

Really, I love it. I almost took a picture of my kitchen table, to post, which is decked out in a white linen with turquoise and red birds. But then I thought, no, I don’t want anyone to glance at my kitchen table and think it’s a brides table.

I hope everyone has a bright and fresh day!

Kyndell + Zack, Lost Mission

Congratulations to our bride, Kyndell, and her man, Zack, who married last month

at Lost Mission.

Their 400 guest had such a great time!

Best wishes  Kyndell and Zack!

Cotton, who thought? I love it! I really am loving the texture and uniqueness that cotton brings to wedding decor.

Taylor + Cameron

We did this wedding quite a while back. However, we never have blogged or posted it. This week we received a call from a new bride in Three Rivers, Texas who said she had been highly recommended by a past bride from there. I knew right away it was from Taylor, or her mom, Jaime. It got me to thinking about (and missing) these two lovely ladies. I have been thinking about them all day so I decided to blog Taylor’s wedding.

Taylor came to us with a guest list well over 1000. (Yes ONE THOUSAND). Jaime, her mom, wanted the wedding to be everything and anything Taylor ever wanted. It was going to be held in George West, Texas on the property of a good friend. Months of planning went into the details, of tents, caterers, florist, valets and vendors, that were all traveling from San Antonio to George West. By the time the wedding invitations were to be sent out, we were able to help them trim the guest list to 600. However, there were still so many details. How would we generate enough electricity for to ac in the tents, (we had extra electricity outlets installed on the property) and ice for cocktails for 600 required separate ice machines to be brought in from San Antonio. These are just a few examples of the many details that went into the planning. The challenges were fun, and the wedding day went off without a hitch.

What an amazing wedding! Love you Taylor, Cameron, and Jaime!

Melody Agee, Senior Wedding Consultant

I really feel like this picture of Melody is priceless. The look on her face captures what is so endearing about her. She truly LOVES her brides, and cares about her brides beyond imagination.

I love Melody beyond words, and so do her brides. You could call ANY of her past brides, and every single one of them, and their mothers,  would tell you they love her and to book Melody for your wedding planing assistance. She is I true gem, and any girl that has her for a planner is a lucky girl.

That being said, her 2012 is booking up FAST. Call her at (254) 652-9595 to see if your date is available.

Wedding Trends 2012- Men In Beige

One of my favorite trends for the new year. A neutral colored  suite. Unless it is a BLACK TIE wedding, I really like seeing the guys in something other than a black tuxedo. Lets face it. San Antonio and South Texas is HOT, almost every  “wedding month” out of the year. It just doesn’t make sense to see the guys, in outdoor wedding pictures, in a black tuxedo, in the middle of a heat wave. Trust me, the will agree.

Let’s face it, the  guys will look just as handsome in a suite that matches the style of the wedding, as they would in a full black tuxedo. Outdoor, or especially in the vintage wedding trend we are seeing a lot of right now, it almost is a must do.

Enough said? xoxo- Teresa
